Microabrasive Technology for Minimal Restorations
نویسندگان
چکیده
With the development of new dental restorative materials, advances in adhesive dentistry, better understanding of the caries process, the tooth’s potential for remineralization and changes in caries prevalence and progression; the management of dental caries has evolved from G.V. Black’s “extension for prevention” to “minimally invasive.” This concept includes early detection of lesions; individual caries risk assessment; nonsurgical interventions; and a modified surgical approach that includes smaller tooth preparations with modified cavity designs and adhesive dental materials to repair rather than replacement of failing restorations. The goal is preservation of natural tooth structure. Microabrasive technology for minimally invasive dentistry is based on a large body of scientific evidence that has been summarized and discussed. The future promises further evolution toward a more primary preventive approach, facilitated by emerging technologies for diagnosis, prevention and treatment. However, there are technical, cultural and economic obstacles that must be overcome for this to be fully realized in clinical practice.

Fiber-reinforced onlay composite resin restoration: a case report.
AIM The purpose of this case report is to describe the clinical procedure for fabricating fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) onlay composite resin restorations using a FRC as the substructure. BACKGROUND A variety of therapeutic modalities are available to restore teeth with moderate coronal defects in the posterior region of the mouth. For patients who refuse complete crown restorations or whe...
متن کاملAn evaluation and adjustment method for natural proximal contacts of crowns using diamond dental strips: a case report.
The best way to adjust proximal contacts of newly fabricated indirect restorations has been a long-standing unresolved issue in dentistry. Excessively tight contacts cause incomplete seating of indirect restorations and intrusion of adjacent teeth, which leads to patient discomfort, hypersensitivity, and recurrent dental caries at the crown margins. When seating indirect restorations, interprox...
متن کاملSurvival rate of sealed, refurbished and repaired defective restorations: 4-year follow-up.
The most common treatment in general dental practice is the replacement of restorations affected by secondary caries or marginal deficiencies. Alternative treatments to replacement of defective restorations, such as marginal sealing, refurbishment and repair, have demonstrated improvement of their clinical properties with minimal intervention. The aim of this clinical study was to estimate the ...
متن کاملRisk measurement and Implied volatility under Minimal Entropy Martingale Measure for Levy process
This paper focuses on two main issues that are based on two important concepts: exponential Levy process and minimal entropy martingale measure. First, we intend to obtain risk measurement such as value-at-risk (VaR) and conditional value-at-risk (CvaR) using Monte-Carlo methodunder minimal entropy martingale measure (MEMM) for exponential Levy process. This Martingale measure is used for the...
متن کاملFactors influencing repair of dental restorations with resin composite
The presentation of patients with dental restorations that exhibit minor defects is one of the commonest clinical situations in the practice of general dentistry. The repair of such restorations, rather than replacement, is increasingly considered to be a viable alternative to replacement of the defective restoration. This paper considers factors influencing the repair of direct restorations, i...
